First COMPOSITES GmbH manufactures fibre composites in various manufacturing processes. The field of RTM manufacturing constitutes the largest share at present, and here, mainly the integral and structural components with high requirements for static and dynamic strengths and/or demand for a specific surface quality.

Besides the RTM process, vacuum infusion processes and manual laminating techniques are also used (particularly for model and mold making).

The production quantities presently range from single pieces (prototype construction) to 1500 units p.a. per component and design. For considerably larger quantities, a production facility is currently being constructed in Neuwied.

CNC machining

First COMPOSITES GmbH has a number of different machining options for the final and further processing of your components. Manual skills of 1C employees are often needed for small series and prototypes; they implement the respective customer requirements with great dexterity and their long-standing experience. For assembly solutions or larger series, modern CNC technology is used.

Tool & mold making

First COMPOSITES GmbH manufactures the majority of its tools and molds in house. The selection of the suitable manufacturing process and the production quantity to be expected determine the tool type and the material selection for the mold construction.

Carbon-Multi-Profile® (C-M-P)

Double trapezium profile for industrial use: Handling, feeder and gauge construction

The Carbon-Multi-Profile® is a double trapezium profile that was developed specifically for handling, feeder and gauge construction in industrial use. The Carbon-Multi-Profile® is particularly popular among machine manufacturers, and that too, mainly in the field of automation and for handling tasks. However, the profile is also suitable for gauge construction and for tasks in the field of assembly aids as well as for gripper systems.

 

 

The speciality

Unlike the conventional carbon pipes, a thread can be embedded or a bearing seat or universal attachment point can be added in case of the Carbon-Multi-Profile®. For this, a so-called plastic or aluminium hard point is introduced in the core. The core is then covered with carbon fabrics and UD layers; together, all this is then placed into a closed tool mold and pressure-injected with epoxy resin using the RTM-ROBOT® process. The component is hardened by heating the mold. The profile can then be cut to its defined length, processed further and the previously described thread, bearing seats or similar can be attached (drilled, milled) at the points provided for the same.

Connectors

Another advantage of the Carbon-Multi-Profile® is multiple standardised junction points of connected members that all work based on the same principle. These are carbon half shells, into which the Carbon-Multi-Profile® is inserted from two, three or four sides. The CMP units are then glued using an epoxy adhesive; thereby, the respective direction of the profile unit is stipulated by the carbon shells. Differently designed carbon shells (e.g. 90° angle, T piece, cross, etc.) offer construction geometries in numerous possibilities.

As a template, we require a printable vector file from you in the .ai, .eps or .pdf format; all fonts must have been converted into paths. Please send us the pixel images in the .tif format in a resolution of at least 200 dpi.

Thanks to special alignment and intersection of the fibres among each other, the formation of sharp edges is avoided in case of the 1C profiles, as compared to the conventional profiles. Thus, the critical notch effect at these edges is eliminated. This special fibre structure also offers a very clear improvement of the bending strength as well as of the torsion and impact resistance.

Advantages of the 1C carbon plates

On a system that was specifically developed for the manufacturing of high-strength epoxy carbon plates, the 1C carbon plates are grouted under a strictly monitored annealing cycle and high pressure.  We use top-quality carbon fabric and carbon lattice in different fibre orientation, which guarantee high dimensional stability as well as (if desired) an optically appealing design surface. The EP resin system used is also characterised by high dynamic and static strengths.
